Step 1
Put the seeds in a glass, fill it with water at room temperature, neither too cold nor too hot.
Do not mix seed species, one seed species in a glass.
Leave to soak for 16 to 24 hours, at room temperature. It's normal if some seeds float while others sink.
To optimize seed germination, you can also do stratification.
2nd step
Remove the film surrounding each pellet provided.
Put all the pellets in a bowl and add 1/2 cup of water in total. Allow the pellets to absorb the water for 20 to 30 minutes. Mix with your fingers.
The soil should not be soaked, but can be damp. Do not hesitate to let it dry for 24 hours before putting it in the biodegradable pots.
Step 3
After hydrating the seeds (max 24 hours), distribute the soil mixture among the 4 pots. Make sure the soil is moist but not soaking wet. If the biodegradable pots get wet, don't worry, they will dry naturally.
Plant the seeds a few centimeters below the surface, spacing them out for optimal growth. The larger the seed, the deeper it is recommended to plant it in the pot. Cover with soil and use waterproof labels to identify each bonsai species.
Step 4
Keep the soil moist by spraying with water every day.
The first shoots should appear after 2 weeks.
Be patient, the art of bonsai takes time and is not a perfect science.
After 30 days, cut the weakest stems at the base (without tearing them up), keeping 2 or 3 shoots per pot for optimal growing space.
Step 5
Once the shoots are well out (height of 5 to 10 cm, 2-4 inches), cut off the weakest stems at the base, keeping 2 or 3 shoots per pot for optimal growing space.
Wait at least 3 months and separate them, plant each in an individual pot.
